Preheat oven to 350°F.
In a large mixing bowl, sift together buckwheat flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, maple syrup, applesauce, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
Stir in the milk gradually until the batter is smooth.
Fold in the chocolate chips. Pour into a lined muffin pan.
Bake for 18-22 minutes.
Cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Enjoy!
